Are you familiar with WebEx and GoToMeeting? These are Web-hosted services that allow remote meeting and desktop sharing collaboration with your colleagues and customers via the Internet in real-time. These online software services have been very successful in the enterprise, government and education sectors for a while.
When the iPad was released back in April both WebEx and GoToMeeting joined the party offering their free apps for Apple’s new device. Today, Fuze Meeting, released their online meeting service to the iPad with a new app.
The Fuze Meeting service allows you to run web conferences in HD, which means during an online meeting you can share photos, videos and presentations that are rich in detail and color. The app also gives you the ability to pull and share documents or files directly from a server. For example, if you’re hosting a meeting, both you and your attendees can share, control, and present content from your iPads.
The Fuze Meeting iPad app has a very sleek design. It allows you to leverage the pinch and zoom features on the iPad. During a presentation, you can use your finger as a digital laser pointer, which will be viewable by everyone participating in your meeting. You can start or schedule meetings and invite attendees from your iPad address book. The app allows you to add Apple Keynote and MS PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, PDFs, movies, images and other content to meetings from your iPad or from your Fuze Meeting content library.
A few other nice features include an in-app VoIP capability that allows call-ins via the Internet. You can also use in-meeting chat and integrated IM to communicate during your meeting. Feel free to chat with your colleagues or invite them to collaboration sessions via integration with AIM, Yahoo, Google, OCS and others.
Fuze Meeting already has apps for the iPhone and other mobile platforms. The new iPad app can be downloaded now for free. Of course, you will need to signup for the online service, but the company offers a 30 day free trial so you can experience the service
